Here are some of my favorite hikes in South America:

1) Fitz Roy
1 day, 20 km length, 800m elevation gain, maximal elevation: 1,200m

  • one of my top 3 favorite hikes ever

  • breath-taking nature, very diverse sections

2) Cerro torre

1 day, 18 km length, 300m elevation gain, maximal elevation: 650m

3) W-Trek in torres del Paine National Park 
5 days, 70 km, 2,000m elevation gain, maximal elevation: 2,900m

  • really amazing hike

  • make sure to book your camping/ cabin spots early since they sell out quickly

4) Uyuni - Salt desert in Bolivia

  • here, I did multiple smaller hikes/walks across the area (very easy, child friendly) guided by a company

5) Atacama Desert, Chile

  • here, I also did multiple, smaller hikes/walks (pictured here: moon valley, one of my favorites)

6) Inka trail to Machu Picchu, Peru

4 days, 43 km, 2,000m elevation gain, maximal elevation: 2,750m

  • one of my favorite hikes overall; the ruins on the way are already impressive, and hiking into Machu Picchu at sunrise was incredible
